Kyrgyz Republic: Improvement of the National Legislation on Foreign Employment and Attracting Foreign Labor Force

A round table on Improvement of the National Legislation on Foreign Employment and Attracting Foreign Labor Force took place on December 17, 2007, in Bishkek. Representatives of government agencies and the non-governmental sector, including private employment agencies and public organizations, attended the round table.

The outcomes of two interagency working

groups and a research review were presented and discussed at the round table. The working groups presented their recommendations on the Kyrgyz Republic’s national legislation on labor migration, and SIAR-Bishkek presented the results of a review of research in the field of labor migration.

Moreover, drafts of legislation acts were introduced at the round table. These drafts include amendments to respective laws and government resolutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. The participants of the round table provided constructive recommendations for improving the Draft Government Resolution of the Kyrgyz Republic. All recommendations were taken into account and final drafts of the documents were sent to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for agreement.
